London City Big Band is an 18 piece ensemble, comprising some of the finest up and coming musicians in the UK. All members of the band have recently graduated from the top Conservatoires in London including the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Royal Academy of Music and Trinity College of Music.

The ensemble performs charts taken from the libraries of the very finest band leaders such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Terry Gibbs, Bill Holman, Thad Jones, Sammy Nestico and many more.

All members in the band have a wealth of experience performing at high profile events such as the Royal Variety Show, BBC Proms, Classical Brits, Children in Need and the X-Factor.

Many of the band have performed with reputable artists such as Michael Bublé, Bette Midler, Earth Wind & Fire, Jamie Cullum, Peter Andre and Gareth Malone. The musicians have also performed with some of the UK’s finest orchestras and big bands, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Ronnie Scott’s Big Band and the London Jazz Orchestra.

“Since they formed in 2011, this young, tight, swinging eighteen-piece band has gone from strength to strength. Their success has to be the result of the skilful leadership of trumpeter Barney Lowe, the high quality of the playing and the great relationship that exists between the musicians. This has to be one of the best big bands playing in the UK at the present time”
